2026 – Week 37

Monday: No sleep overnight, Hannah left in the morning, and I dozed away much of the day fitfully. In the evening, I started the process for doing a major operating system upgrade for my Mac. Backups were made of multiple drives, a bootable duplicate was made of the extant system, and that was it for the night.

Tuesday: Slept solidly, woke late. Installed Sequoia on the Mac’s internal drive, then on the main boot drive, then spent the day dealing with issues resulting. The desktop wallpapers were wiped for all but one of my spaces, so that all had to be re-set. Surprisingly, all my old software worked fine. I bought some upgrades, and they were… meh. Had one upgrade charge full product price because I was looking at the store page for the company while still on the purchase page for the discounted version.

A real annoyance has been iCloud drive being stuck on a 1 byte file, which prevented Time Machine from running, so there was most of a day futzing around trying to fix that.

Wednesday: The iCloud issue was solved – booting in safe mode, the problem was instantly gone. Rebooting to normal, everything was good.

Thursday: A quiet day. Posted a review of a piece of software on SBMR, but aside from that, not a lot done. It’s that post-project quiet time.

Friday: Tried to go to Bunnings to pick up some things, but they were closed because it was a local public holiday. Having concerns with a product I bought from Amazon, which is delayed, and has had its product page changed to be completely different to the product I ordered. Had thai food for dinner, which may have undone all my no-carb slimming.

Saturday: Feel post-carb blergh. Played Snipey with Hannah, had Satay sauce with a portion of steak with salad. By the end of my wake cycle, I’d managed to finish writing up the Osaka chapter text for Day & Night.

Sunday: A quiet one, I managed to get the opening text for the Kyoto chapter of Day & Night done.
