2026 – Week 33

Monday: Had a good night’s sleep, and a quiet day. Did multiple loads of laundry, including hand-washing a bunch or merino shirts. Did some kitchen tidying, and made beef stroganoff for dinner, which I had with an episode of Fringe with Hannah.

Tuesday: Did more laundry. Took some boxes of stuff over to storage. Finished posting a new workflow post to the SBMR forums.

Wednesday: Annual neurologist appointment. His assessment: Stable. The issues I’m having with my legs might be mechanical nervous, rather than neurological nervous. Picked up some drill bits from Bunnings.

Thursday: Went over to storage and did a little tidying, wanted to return some boots to a box, but the (unknown to me) vinyl tongues had disintegrated. Had a chicken schnitzel salad for dinner.

Friday: Washed the car. Packed to spend the weekend at Hannah’s.

Saturday: Drove down to Brisbane. Picked up some groceries, and medical supplies. Had someone sign up to SBMR who I’d been trying to get in contact with.

Sunday: Spent the afternoon in the workshop drilling the baseplates for the jacking feet. Up late with a sore ear.

2026 – Week 32

Monday: Woke up hung over, but managed breakfast, then dropped my bike off to be serviced. Went out for lunch by the river, with prawn rolls using brioche. Had a beer with lunch. Then a kahula coffee after a nap, then a martini, and a prawn salad, and two more martinis, for 12 shots of vodka total. More or less passed out, as opposed to going to sleep.

Tuesday: We woke up fragile, and hung over. Drove out to Cooroy, and bought pastie, cheese & spinach triangle, and a chicken pie, and ate them in the sun on the stepped banking between the library & the Butter Factory. Came home, went out to get ice cream because I had a hankering for an iced coffee. Made nachos for dinner, then played some Sniper Elite.

Wednesday: Hannah went back to Brisbane. Time spent nibbling away on CSS.

Thursday: Felt pretty flat all day, but glory of glories, I managed to get the SBMR forum css complete, as far as I can see. I ended the night posting the first few notes about it on various social media sources.

Friday: Had a really bad night’s sleep, did some SBMR CSS tweaks, and continued to drip out publicising it. Legs were feeling a bit weird, went for a walk around the block. Played an hour or so of games and legs felt really bad afterwards. Had KFC for dinner, which I haven’t done in years. Ordered some hair removal cream to see if it could be an alternative to shaving.

Saturday: The hair removal cream arrived. It doesn’t work. At all. Amazon simply refunded it, afterI was able to find a way to chat to a support rep. Played some games with Hannah after dinner.

Sunday: Quiet day at home. Mum has cleared out for a few days after waking with a sore throat, and deciding not to risk being infectious. Chatted to Hannah’s folks via Facetime. Played some Snipper Elite with Hannah in the evening, and had a small serving of Shepherd’s pie for dinner.

2026 – Week 31

Monday: Went to bed around 8am, got up around 4. Did a bunch more CSS work as I try to figure out how to solve inconsistency in how Simple Machines Forum does a number of things.

Tuesday: Went to bed at around 3, woke up around 7. Don’t know if I actually slept or not. Had a nap in the afternoon. Spent the day working on CSS, and doing camera gear research with regards to my speedlight.

Wednesday: Another early start – went to bed around 1:30am the night before, and got up at half 8. Cutting down tohalf as much temazepam is causing me to sleep lighter, so I wake up easier. I reached a final resolution on a design issue with the new forum site, so I can move on to fixing other things, which is nice.

Thursday: Woolworths missed about a third of my delivery order, so I complained, and they scheduled a second delivery for later in the day. CSS progress is in the bulk benefit phase where styles are being moved in to more generic levels, and flowing through to more of the site.

Friday: Broken sleep – went to bed around 1, but woke up around 4 or 5. Stayed up till 8 or 9, had a nap for a couple of hours, then went out and did errands; biltong, medications and beer. Had the error where Mona shits its bed after more than 23 days uptime.

Saturday: Hannah arrived for a holiday, heavy drinkig and chicken wings and the new Masters of The Universe film.

Sunday: Hungover, but afternoon drinks and the forth Thor film, and Firefox.

2026 – Week 30

Monday: Had a terrible night’s sleep, woke up after only 4 hours. House had a termite inspection in the morning, so went for a walk up to the pathology clinic to have my 6 monthly blood tests drawn. Got home, they still weren’t finished, so I went for a drive up to Civic, and bought some cinnamon donuts. Came home, had another coffee, had some donuts, had a nap, then took my car up to be serviced. Engaged in  long discussion about Simple Machines Forum with the developers, trying to figure out a way to customise things.

Tuesday: Slept soundly, car wasn’t finished to pick up by the end of the day, so spent the day working on CSS stuff, and buying bits of camera gear I’ve been meaning to get for a while.

Wednesday: Picked the car up, clutch had a minor adjustment and reverse gear is now easier to find. Discovered Aussie Broadband had billed me regardless of their statement they wouldn’t when I called back on the 8th. So, I filled in a TIO complaint, which will cost them money.

Thursday: Finalised my camera insurance; it’s more expensive than before, but provides more coverage than before. Called Aussie Broadband again, another long queue, sorted the billing again, up to 10 days for them to refund a charge that should have never been raised.

Friday: A day of working on CSS, with significant success after being quite down about how things were going. Felt good after medication days. Mum left to go to Airlie Beach. Aussie Broadband appear to have made the refund quick-smart.

Saturday: Spent the night drinking any playing video games with Hannah remotely, then went on to do a bunch of CSS work, and made a quiche while still half-pissed at 1:30 in the morning.

Sunday: Did a bunch more CSS work, and made a huge breakthrough, that had me awake until Monday.

2026 – Week 29

Monday: Continued to work through forum CSS.

Tuesday: Continued to work through forum CSS.

Wednesday: Continued to work through forum CSS.

I’m losing track of time.

Thursday: Worked more on, you guessed it, CSS.

Friday: Only managed 4 hours sleep, woke up early, so the day was a bit broken. Worked on some photo stuff; processed and published my Destructure images.

Saturday: Went out for a drive, to give the car a bit of a run before servicing on Tuesday. Drove up to Lake Macdonald, then tried to go around to the other side of the dam wall where the fish hatchery used to be, but it’s closed off, then drove up to Mt Tinbeewah lookout, but the carpark was full, so decided against it. Came home, and had a craving for Indian, so I drove over to Tewantin and picked up my usual order. Spent some time playing video games, and working on CSS

Sunday: Worked on CSS, tried to get an early night’s sleep. Had leftover Indian for breakfast, which is a rare break from my usual breakfast routine.

2026 – Week 28

Monday: Went for a drive out to Lota, near Manly (Brisbane) and had a chicko roll and looked at the seaside. It’s not a beach, it’s the end of the land. Watched little turquoise and orange kingfishers flit around the mudflats. Drove to the end of a road, where a lot of old decrepit piers and beached boats were hidden amongst the mangroves.

Tuesday: A day in. Woke up insanely early for some reason, had beers and burgers for lunch while watching a stupid Jurassic World film, played a bunch of Halo, then watched Princess Bride with dinner.

Wednesday: Drove back up to Noosa. Realised I’d forgotten a number of my usual safety details when I left – I didn’t unplug the ethernet upstream, or shut down keyboard of trackpad, or old laptop. Did some more work on the forum CSS.

Thursday: Spent the day working on CSS, as well as processing the photos from Monday.

Friday: Spent the day working on CSS, and gaming. Did some gaming with Hannah in the evening.

Saturday: Have been thinking seriously about whether to buy a $3000 tilt-shift lens.

Sunday: Had beers with Cam by the river, finished off a bunch of work on the editor for the forums site, and had nachos for dinner.

2026 – Week 27

Monday: Signed up for a new mobile plan, with a company “Yomoji”, whose owner posts to Whirlpool.

Tuesday: Washed all my merino shirts. Fuelled the car up before fuel excise comes back. Received confirmation my new SIM has shipped.

Wednesday: Spent time chasing up camera insurance quotes. Finished CSS styling for the new forums main page. Made a bunch of progress styling the individual board page.

Thursday: Wasting hours trying to speak to Microsoft after my credit card company refused my Gamepass subscription renewal. Once I had that sorted, I sent time working on forum CSS. I kept working on that util around 7am.

Friday: Only slept around 5 hours. Did a few loads of laundry, washed the car, received confirmation from camera insurance company that my policy covered me until the end of July, did a few more updates to forum CSS to get it ready for a few days off in Brisbane, so it’s usable in the new theme.

Saturday: Drove down to Hannah’s. Had chicken wings for dinner, drank a lot, watched Shadow of The Vampire, and the stupid Jurassic World movie.

Sunday: Hangover, did some work in the garage cutting steel baseplates for the jacking foot legs I’m making for the tool chest. Drinking, and another bad Jurassic Park film. Played some halo.

2026 – Week 26

Monday: Had a slow start to the day, but eventually went for a drive up to Lake Macdonald, to the Noosa Botanical Gardens, and had cheese and crackers n the grass at the deserted amphitheatre, hand-feeding magpies. Had chicken schnitzel & salad for dinner, a martini and a whisky, played some Halo, and had an early-ish night.

Tuesday: Hannah was working from home. I spent the day alternating beteen the forums CSS, and tryng to unfuck my facebook profile’s post privacy settings.

Wednesday: Mum cam home, I am no longer peacefully alone. I can feel the stress already. Had my flu shot. Continued working on Facebook and forum CSS. Stayed up stupid late stressing over mum potentially letting a tradesman into the house while I was asleep. Ended up leaving a note downstairs setting out why I was so worried, and the effect it was having on me.

Thursday: A busy day. Turns out Mum was only trying to work around me not being woken up by the tradesman working next door. Still, at least I’ve set some boundaries with that, and explained the stakes. I had a call with my superannuation company’s financial planner to talk about my current account – it’s the second most valuable thing I have, after my main savings account, and we were discussing where my desired risk profile is. After that, I had a video call with the National Library of Australia’s National E-Deposit team.

Friday: Had a solid night’s sleep, and a day of administrative efforts to figure out my Photography insurance, as the new policy was sent to me had only a few days before it expired, with a completely new insurer and company who appear to have all their information two years out of date.

In the evening I started working on a second attempt at redesigning Simple Machines Forum, and came up with a much better solution; just adding my new CSS overrides to the bottom of the CSS file, so they’re read last and I don’t have to care about, or modify the original code. It’s some of the nicest work I’ve done in a long time.

Saturday: Spent the day working on the forum theme.

Sunday: Spent the day trying to clean out my facebook profile, setting posts to “me only” so nothing is visible to my “friends”. Then did some more work on the new forums design. Had fish & chips & calamari & chicko roll for dinner.

2026 – Week 25

Monday: Didn’t get enough sleep. Spent the day dealing with hold music as I attempted to figure out why I couldn’t register a new PayPal account. Turns out WebKit browsers just don’t work. Spent time trying too figure out a good dark mode theme for Simple Machines Forum, but most of them, in fact the code for SMF in general is awful to read. It’s really not designed for a html / css person to easily modify.

Then something I hadn’t really thought about came up – Paypal transactions have the name of the recipient on them, and I’m not sure if I want my personal name to be on the docket. So, now I’m investigating what the other options are, and perhaps a Pty. Ltd. company begins to make sense.

Tuesday: Had a conversation with my accountant, regarding the costs of setting up a company. It’s expensive. Walked up to the shops and bought rocket, and sushi. I continue to feel like my dress has become a costume. The round sunglasses help with that. Spent a bunch of time making progress on re-skinning the SMF website design.

Wednesday: Quiet day, continuing to work on forum redesign, and research things I need to do, cellphone plans etc. Played a bit of my new tank game.

Thursday: Continued researching phone plans, applecare, and trying to get in contact with a former macrumors person to tell them about the new site.

Friday: Worked ok forums theme stuff. Had a grocery delivery.

Saturday: Hannah arrived. Had gozlame for breakfast, napped, made chicken wings for dinner, got riotously drunk on 2 whiskys, and 2 4-shot martinis, then played a bunch of halo.

Sunday: Very slow start to the day, hung over. I’ve managed to lose weight, down to 52.3kg. I’m somewhat shocked that it all vanished so quickly from being stuck in the high 53s, to low 54. We had leftover chicken wings, and salad for dinner, and watched Salute of The Jugger, then played some Sniper Elite.

2026 – Week 24

Monday: Spent the day working on this. Hannah headed home in the morning. Suspension on the Macrumors forum expired. Made a bunch of cheesy pasta (and rocket) for dinner.

Tuesday: Intended to walk up to the shops to get Rocket, but noped out as it became too late. Phoned Paypal, and learned all the info I needed to get subscription payments hooked up for Simple Machines Forum. Had some shepherds pie and stirfried vegetables for dinner. Did some more work on this politics book. Filed a cmplaint about a sealioning dick on the macrumors forum.

Wednesday: Suspended again on the Macrumors forum. So I went ahead and bought the hosting package for SlotBoxMacRox, and began the process of setting up the new hosting system. Took he splint off my hand in the evening and gave it some good time to free up.

Thursday: Shopping delivery, new leather deskmat arrived, and it’s SO nice. Kept working through forum setup. Brought a new, old keyboard into service; it seems to be working a lot better than the old, old one.

Friday: Woke up at 2pm, that was some serious sleep. Decided to not go up the street because it was going to be too late. Spent a bunch of the day continuing to research forums options, and I’m pretty close to a decision.

Saturday: Simple Machines’ Forum is installed, and running. I’m in the process of configuring it.

Sunday: Worked on the code of conduct for the forums, and I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the way it worked out. Made ramen for dinner.
