2026 – Week 27

Monday: Signed up for a new mobile plan, with a company “Yomoji”, whose owner posts to Whirlpool.

Tuesday: Washed all my merino shirts. Fuelled the car up before fuel excise comes back. Received confirmation my new SIM has shipped.

Wednesday: Spent time chasing up camera insurance quotes. Finished CSS styling for the new forums main page. Made a bunch of progress styling the individual board page.

Thursday: Wasting hours trying to speak to Microsoft after my credit card company refused my Gamepass subscription renewal. Once I had that sorted, I sent time working on forum CSS. I kept working on that util around 7am.

Friday: Only slept around 5 hours. Did a few loads of laundry, washed the car, received confirmation from camera insurance company that my policy covered me until the end of July, did a few more updates to forum CSS to get it ready for a few days off in Brisbane, so it’s usable in the new theme.

Saturday: Drove down to Hannah’s. Had chicken wings for dinner, drank a lot, watched Shadow of The Vampire, and the stupid Jurassic World movie.

Sunday: Hangover, did some work in the garage cutting steel baseplates for the jacking foot legs I’m making for the tool chest. Drinking, and another bad Jurassic Park film. Played some halo.

2026 – Week 26

Monday: Had a slow start to the day, but eventually went for a drive up to Lake Macdonald, to the Noosa Botanical Gardens, and had cheese and crackers n the grass at the deserted amphitheatre, hand-feeding magpies. Had chicken schnitzel & salad for dinner, a martini and a whisky, played some Halo, and had an early-ish night.

Tuesday: Hannah was working from home. I spent the day alternating beteen the forums CSS, and tryng to unfuck my facebook profile’s post privacy settings.

Wednesday: Mum cam home, I am no longer peacefully alone. I can feel the stress already. Had my flu shot. Continued working on Facebook and forum CSS. Stayed up stupid late stressing over mum potentially letting a tradesman into the house while I was asleep. Ended up leaving a note downstairs setting out why I was so worried, and the effect it was having on me.

Thursday: A busy day. Turns out Mum was only trying to work around me not being woken up by the tradesman working next door. Still, at least I’ve set some boundaries with that, and explained the stakes. I had a call with my superannuation company’s financial planner to talk about my current account – it’s the second most valuable thing I have, after my main savings account, and we were discussing where my desired risk profile is. After that, I had a video call with the National Library of Australia’s National E-Deposit team.

Friday: Had a solid night’s sleep, and a day of administrative efforts to figure out my Photography insurance, as the new policy was sent to me had only a few days before it expired, with a completely new insurer and company who appear to have all their information two years out of date.

In the evening I started working on a second attempt at redesigning Simple Machines Forum, and came up with a much better solution; just adding my new CSS overrides to the bottom of the CSS file, so they’re read last and I don’t have to care about, or modify the original code. It’s some of the nicest work I’ve done in a long time.

Saturday: Spent the day working on the forum theme.

Sunday: Spent the day trying to clean out my facebook profile, setting posts to “me only” so nothing is visible to my “friends”. Then did some more work on the new forums design. Had fish & chips & calamari & chicko roll for dinner.

2026 – Week 25

Monday: Didn’t get enough sleep. Spent the day dealing with hold music as I attempted to figure out why I couldn’t register a new PayPal account. Turns out WebKit browsers just don’t work. Spent time trying too figure out a good dark mode theme for Simple Machines Forum, but most of them, in fact the code for SMF in general is awful to read. It’s really not designed for a html / css person to easily modify.

Then something I hadn’t really thought about came up – Paypal transactions have the name of the recipient on them, and I’m not sure if I want my personal name to be on the docket. So, now I’m investigating what the other options are, and perhaps a Pty. Ltd. company begins to make sense.

Tuesday: Had a conversation with my accountant, regarding the costs of setting up a company. It’s expensive. Walked up to the shops and bought rocket, and sushi. I continue to feel like my dress has become a costume. The round sunglasses help with that. Spent a bunch of time making progress on re-skinning the SMF website design.

Wednesday: Quiet day, continuing to work on forum redesign, and research things I need to do, cellphone plans etc. Played a bit of my new tank game.

Thursday: Continued researching phone plans, applecare, and trying to get in contact with a former macrumors person to tell them about the new site.

Friday: Worked ok forums theme stuff. Had a grocery delivery.

Saturday: Hannah arrived. Had gozlame for breakfast, napped, made chicken wings for dinner, got riotously drunk on 2 whiskys, and 2 4-shot martinis, then played a bunch of halo.

Sunday: Very slow start to the day, hung over. I’ve managed to lose weight, down to 52.3kg. I’m somewhat shocked that it all vanished so quickly from being stuck in the high 53s, to low 54. We had leftover chicken wings, and salad for dinner, and watched Salute of The Jugger, then played some Sniper Elite.

2026 – Week 24

Monday: Spent the day working on this. Hannah headed home in the morning. Suspension on the Macrumors forum expired. Made a bunch of cheesy pasta (and rocket) for dinner.

Tuesday: Intended to walk up to the shops to get Rocket, but noped out as it became too late. Phoned Paypal, and learned all the info I needed to get subscription payments hooked up for Simple Machines Forum. Had some shepherds pie and stirfried vegetables for dinner. Did some more work on this politics book. Filed a cmplaint about a sealioning dick on the macrumors forum.

Wednesday: Suspended again on the Macrumors forum. So I went ahead and bought the hosting package for SlotBoxMacRox, and began the process of setting up the new hosting system. Took he splint off my hand in the evening and gave it some good time to free up.

Thursday: Shopping delivery, new leather deskmat arrived, and it’s SO nice. Kept working through forum setup. Brought a new, old keyboard into service; it seems to be working a lot better than the old, old one.

Friday: Woke up at 2pm, that was some serious sleep. Decided to not go up the street because it was going to be too late. Spent a bunch of the day continuing to research forums options, and I’m pretty close to a decision.

Saturday: Simple Machines’ Forum is installed, and running. I’m in the process of configuring it.

Sunday: Worked on the code of conduct for the forums, and I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the way it worked out. Made ramen for dinner.

2026 – Week 23

Monday: Domestic day; did laundry, cleaned the bathroom drains, put the car on to battery charger & ordered replacement filters for all the air scrubbers. Booked covid shot for Friday. Had a portion of shepherds pie and salad for dinner.

Tuesday: Doctor’s appointment, picked up whisky and sherry from Dan Murphys, picked up medications from the chemist, and Rocket from the fruit & veg shop, and then some sushi from the sushi shop. Did some laundry; tea towels and placemats, did a couple of training sessions on the bike.

Wednesday: Bit of a loss of a day, did book stuff. Made a chicken schnitzel for dinner.

Thursday: Had a bunch of air scrubber filters arrive. Had some shepherds pie for dinner.

Friday: Walked up to the local chemist for my twelfth Covid shot. Bought a bag of rocket. Bought a download manager app, and started grabbing an archive of Goodies episodes from the Internet Archive.

Saturday: Received a 3 day suspension from macrumors forums for snapping at someone who was sealioning me. Hannah arrived, we made chicken wings

Sunday: Registered slotboxmacrox.org and I’ll set up an independent forum for mac pro users, because I’m a mature adult. Played some Sniper Elite, watched predator, had some Sherry.

2026 – Week 22

Monday: Hannah drove up for her “help Matt live a safe life” week, as I recover from my finger sprain. Started working on fixing an eBook written by someone else to make it more readable.

Ordered a handmade leather desk mat for my desk, because a small luxury isn’t a bad thing for a place you spend 16 hours a day at.

Tuesday: Did a couple of cycle sessions, did some more work on the eBook reworking. We finished off the chicken wings, and had a portion of shepherds pie.

Wednesday: Continued work on the book stuff. Made steak & salad for dinner. Ate a couple of cinnamon donuts.

Thursday: More work on eBook processing. Had my remaining two cinnamon donuts, and chicken wings for dinner. Hannah did a bunch of banal chores I couldn’t do, thanks to my hand; garbage & recycling, etc.

Friday:didn’t sleep well, was up when Hannah woke up. Slept a bunch of the day away. Had leftover chicken wings for dinner, watched The incredibles, and did more work on the eBook.

Saturday: Had a late start. Finished off most work on the book. Had shepherds pie for dinner. Did a cycle session.

Sunday: An earlier start. Did some eBook work, had a cycling session, ordered a big danmurphys order; Nikka coffey malt was on special, also bought a bottle of sherry that I’d heard about. Shepherds pie again for dinner.

2026 – Week 21

Monday: Late start, or rather, a late finish. Couldn’t stay asleep, so I got up around 3am, did some exercise, etc. Hannah had her alarm set for 7, so I waited up for her to go for the commute down to Brisbane. Went to bed after that, and slept till around 2. Spent the day working on EPUB stuff, as well as trying to figure out what was happening with FastSpring and all these fake purchases happening on my store. Hurt the middle finger on my right hand, in a fashion similar to my left hand, late at night. Published the new second edition version of Derby Daze: Volume 1 which is a thing I’ve been working towards for more than a year. Fucking my hand up wasn’t exactly the way I wanted to celebrate that.

Tuesday: Made a doctor’s appointment for Wednesday to get a referral for my finger, to have it ultrasounded. Found a bunch of large paddlepop sticks from mixing casting resin, so used one to splint my finger.

Wednesday: Doctor’s appointment to get a referral for an ultrasound on my finger, then immediately afterwards up to the radiologists to have my finger scanned. Their diagnosis is it’s probably a sprain, so we’ll keep it in a splint and hopefully the doctor will get the results tomorrow and we’ll know what to do with it. If necessary I’ll go get an MRI, even if its out of my own pocket, but hopefully it’ll just be a short splinting. My biggest worry right now is that I clip the finger on something, given it’s stuck out straight.

I finished the HTML / CSS for the Day and Night book

Thursday: Finger seems to be on a slow mend, I had a quiet day, woke up with a headache in the afternoon to a voicemail from the doctor I’d seen saying my finger was probably a sprain, and should be ok in a few days. if not, make an appointment with my regular doctor, and consult the hand therapist.

Friday: Did two cycle sessions, made a half length splint for my finger, and kept it in that, as I practice a bit of extra flexibility. Mum made a couple of Shepherds pies, and dropped them off for me.

Saturday: Chopped up a bunch of biltong, did a couple of cycling sessions. Packaged all the shepherds pie portions into big plastic containers, and put those in the chest freezer.

Sunday: A quiet day. Bike sessions, and house tidying in preparation for Hannah coming to stay for a few days.

2026 – Week 20

Monday: Had a video interview with the local NDIS coordination organisation. It seems like a lot of paperwork, and red flags in a followup email about needing lists of tasks one “cannot” do.

Tuesday: Went to the optometrists to look at the replacement frames Lindberg had sent, and they largely had the same issues as the originals, plus an extra issue with the surface finish. So, I ended up taking the original ones home.

Wednesday: Did a load of laundry.

Thursday: Did a bunch of tidying around the house, and continued photo processing stuff.

Friday: Continued on my cleaning binge… and managed to put my phone through the washing machine – didn’t notice because it kept playing a podcast at me over bluetooth headphones.

Saturday: Hannah arrived for the weekend, we went shopping for groceries, then made chicken wings & martinis for dinner while watching Fringe & The X-Files, then played a bunch of Halo. Noticed something odd with Fastspring after receiving an email telling me I had a payment due: some bot network or something is putting random purchases through my online store. LOTS of purchases. Most are being declined, but a few are successful. I’m “making” more from this than I ever did from legit sales. Obviously, I’m not withdrawing the money from my FastSpring account until I find out what’s going on.

Sunday: We had a late morning, made pancakes, eggs, bacon and maple syrup. Damn it’s good. Watched a couple of films with  some daydrinking. Tried to play some games, but Hannah’s controller started bugging out. Watched some X-Files, and had the remainder of the chicken wings, with another movie.

2026 – Week 19

Monday: Public holiday, chilling at home. A few drinks, some gaming, chicken wings for dinner.

Tuesday: A day spent cleaning the dishwasher, running cycle after cycle, first empty, then doing the oven racks, then all the plates, crockery, and cutlery. Later, time spent getting a bunch of publishing steps done for Derby Daze Vol 1, Second Edition.

Wednesday: Did a bunch of work cleaning up and finalising the HTML of my Derby Daze books. There were a lot of issues, and I’m finding glitches with the Apple Books app. Came to a point where I think the images are a bit too dark, so I started on bringing a bit of brightness punch.

Spent about an hour making an amazing dinner – a blue cheese bacon & mushroom gluten free pasta, and just as I’d scooped it all out in a bowl, I lost strength holding the bowl, and all but a small snack worth of it fell out on the floor.

Thursday: Woke up with an eye headache. Spent the day working on photo stuff.

Friday: Woke up late, spent the day catching up on news, then working on photo processing. Spent a bunch of time going to and fro with my webhost over why I couldn’t get in to my admin system, before they sent me notification that the server admin system was offline pending a security fix.

Saturday: Got back to the admin system, and implemented a better antispam rule, which seems to have cut down on garbage emails. Played videogames with Hannah.

Sunday: Did two sessions on the bike standing trainer. Kept working on photos etc.

2026 – Week 18

Monday: Huzzah! The toolbox was delivered, and appears to be undamaged. The old one was taken away. This was scheduled to be two separate deliveries, one to pick up, one to drop off, but the one guy did both. Instead of using palette jacks, he just had a tip trolley, and did everything himself; left the truck out on the street, wheeled the box down the driveway.

Later in the evening, we assembled everything, got the wheels on, etc.

I’ve been stressing about this for so long, it’s hard to fathom that it’s over.

It. Is. Done.

Tuesday: Drove back to Noosa.

Wednesday: Quiet day, grocery delivery.

Thursday: Another quiet day – posting on forums about stuff.

Friday: Again, not much. Cleaned and replaced the HEPA filters in three of the four house air scrubbers. Cut up a couple of steaks into portions for freezing. Forum drama continues.

Saturday: Hannah arrived, we had fish & chips for dinner, then played some Halo.

Sunday: Beers with Cam & Dunc down by the river. Made low-carb pancakes, bacon & eggs for dinner. Had a couple of margaritas and a whisky while watching The Terminator.
