2026 – Week 41

Monday: A late start, but by 2pm or so, I headed down to the garage and spent a bunch of time drilling on the baseplates for the second two feet for the toolbox. Made ramen for dinner, then went back down to the garage and did an exercise session.

Tuesday: An earlier start today. Cleaned up the baseplates of the two extra levelling feet for the toolbox, then cut the length of 100mm steel bar for the shelf, and drilled it for the monitor stand grommet mount.

Wednesday: Discovered to my horror that the shelf I’d cut was drilled 1cm off centre. Dammit, measure twice, thrice, etc. Made a new one, and the drill still didn’t set to centre. Made a third one, and it worked correctly. Cut all the pieces for the rest of the shelf.

Thursday: A short work day, but quite successful. I tried welding the way I had intended to weld, and it worked out much the way I’d hoped. The real issue is the clumsiness of the setup, with regards to everything being heavy, and clunky. Steel falling through the slots in the wording table, etc.

Friday: After a poor night’s sleep, I powered through welding up the other three legs, and everything was going great. Then I tried to weld the nut onto the end, and it seems to have welded the leg into it. So Saturday morning I’ll have to try to cut it off to see if I can get it unstuck.

Saturday: A final push to fix the fused leg. Cut the end off, cut all the other legs shorter to match, and then welded nuts on to all four legs… and they all turned out to be crooked enough that the leg couldn’t be threaded into them, becoming snagged on the inside.

Sunday: A bit of a nothing day. Catching up on youtube videos, drinking coffee, etc.
